About Us

Blackketter Craftsmen, Inc. is owned and operated by the husband/ wife team of Scott Blackketter and Gretchen Bandy.  Together with talented BCI employees and trusted partners, they take great pride in tailoring each project to the individual needs of the home and customer.

Scott Blackketter, President, CEO
Scott has been involved with construction since his childhood.  He holds a B.S. in Human Factors Engineering and has over 20 years experience as a remodeling contractor.  As an expert carpenter with experience in nearly every type of residential building task, Scott is both the supervisor and the master carpenter for all projects.  He acts as coach to the Blackketter Craftsmen team made up of lead carpenters, journeymen, apprentices and subcontractors.

Gretchen Bandy, Vice President
Gretchen holds a M.S. in Engineering.  She joined Blackketter Craftsmen Inc. in 2005 after a 15 year career in process control engineering.  She is responsible for design, project management, and business operations.  She coordinates with Scott and the Blackketter Craftsmen team as well as with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure an efficient project schedule.  Gretchen also works closely with customers and suppliers in order to streamline and simplify the process of product selection and integration.

The Team and Process
The most critical part of the Blackketter Craftsmen Inc. team consists of our lead carpenters, journeymen, apprentices and office staff. One of our lead carpenters is assigned to each project at its commencement. He or she meets the customer in preliminary visits, returns to begin the project, and stays with the job all the way through to the most detailed of finish work. This continuity of responsibility ensures a smooth and efficient project. Our customers appreciate that the vast majority of the work is completed by our regular employees. The lead carpenter manages all journeymen, apprentices, and subcontractors. Most of our subcontractors have been working with us for many years and all are held to our high standards of quality and integrity.
